Copper and Fir House
I love working with reclaimed Douglas Fir, especially when it has signs of previous use such as stains, cracks, nail holes, etc. These wee structures are forerunners for an idea I have to build whimsical models of existing houses for clients interested in having their home reproduced in an artistic fashion. The curved one was built for a 2×4 contest where contestants needed to build a project from one 2×4. I have been saving and using old fir lumber for years (cabinets, kitchens, furniture) and it seemed a perfect fit. The copper roofed house was a model of a clients renovation (the wood was taken from the actual reno). I have sketches to do a model of my house next!
